i purchased about 5 different colors of the skin and im happy with them. keeps giving my phone a new look. its helpful for keeping it clean and will protect the chrome edge from scratching if you drop it, although its no padding at all so a hard fall and your phone might get damaged. its more for looks and keeping it clean than for any protection if you drop it

Buy One The Very First Day You Own A Bold!
I've had a couple of Treos before the Bold 9000, and I had to learn the hard way that a case is essential protection. So I bought this case at the same time I ordered the Bold through Amazon.

Silicone cases in general have a couple of very, very useful properties. First, they provide a sticky surface which resists sliding. So, if you put your phone on your dashboard, a silicone case will resist sliding out the open passenger side window when you make a fast left hand turn. Don't ask me how I know. If you put the Berry on your desk, then move something else which bumps into it, the silicone cover will avoid many of the falls off the desk which can result. You don't need a cover for this protection -- there have been stick-on pads for many years which can provide the same result -- but it's simpler with the cover.

If you do drop the phone, the silicone cover provides a little crash protection. Coupled with most office carpet, you shouldn't have any damage to the phone.

The negatives of silicone covers are that they tend to stick in your pocket. So, instead of walking around with my pants on the ground, I'm walking around with one pocket out.

This particular cover is easily removed. I put it in the Blackberry charging pod and remove it overnight for that. It goes on and off pretty easily -- just start at the bottom when putting it on.

This is not foolproof protection, and a screen cover is also essential.

Finally, the red color is noticeable enough that I usually find my phone quickly when I set it down somewhere absent-mindedly. At the same time, it's not garishly bright.

So...I strongly recommend a silicone cover, and this particular one has given me good service so far. Five stars.

Fit likes a glove!
Perfect fit! Protects the corners (which got scratched before I got the case) and all the buttons are easily accessible.
The ports are usable with the case on, but can get in the way of the charger, but all you have to do it wiggle it a little out of the way.
My only complaint is that the camera on the back is not well protected, and the area around it isnt either. Works great otherwise!
