Roots

Looking down, not forward.

Reference: Roots, 2026

The same cup. The same route. The moments that look like nothing is happening. Most of what keeps us steady is repetitive + boring.

Under the surface,

roots are growing.

For a long time, steadiness looked like adding more. More structure, more discipline, more effort dressed up as progress. A perfect day was a full day, rest penciled in.

The small practices are rarely the ones worth writing about. They’re easy to overlook. & most days they do nothing. But on the days when everything feels like it's sliding, something is still holding us up, and it's almost always the boring thing.

When things feel unanchored, look down instead of forward. Not what's next.

Q. What's been keeping you upright while you were busy looking somewhere else?

Lately: Diaphragmatic breathing, 5 minutes. Twice a day.
